Take Time
“Teach us to number our days that we might apply our heart to
wisdom.”
Time is one the greatest thing that God has given unto us. It
is by far the most priceless commodity that we humans have. Everything in life
is measured by time. It is the yardstcik of measuring every activity of man. And of course, you know that time is life. Time is money. In fact, time is everything. It is also the ony
thing that we cannot tie down. “Time and tide waits for no man.”
This measuring device called 'Time" dates back to 1500 BC. It is actually an Egyptian device. Actaully, a large variety of devices have been invented to amange time. The study of these devices is called horology. That is why watch repairers are called horologists.
Similar in shape to the bent T-square, measures the passage of time from the shadow cast by its crossbar on a non-linear rule.
The most amazing thing is that God is not partial with this
indispensable commodity, he apportions it to every man equally no matter your
height, weight, stature, intellect, status (rich or poor), background
(educational, social, family, etc). Have you thought about it that it is the
same time that you have access to that the richest man in the world have. Think
about it: “I have 24 hours. The same for Aliko Dangote (the richest man in
Africa) and Warren Buffet or Carlos Slim.” God isn’t partial. Those used to the
habit of complaining will always complain for want of time to do what they had
wanted to do. But, I have observed one thing. There are two clocks in the world
– the one for the lazy people or idlers. The other for the diligent. For the idlers, time is always slow. And they
ate the one who will always be checking the time from time to time. “What time
is it there? Is it 1 O’clock?” “is it 4pm? They are in the habit of checking
what time is it because they are not meaningfully engaged. But to the diligent
or the workaholic, their complaint is, “Whao, the day is gone. How I wish we
have 48 hours or 72 hours per day.” That is why I told you that there are two
clock in the world. It doesn’t matter whether it is in Japan or South Africa,
or Malaysia or the United Kingdom; you will still find these two sets of people
there – the idlers and the diligent. Those who are using time wisely, and those
who are killing time.
It doesn’t really matter who you are, whether you know the
value of time or not, you have to 24 hours per day. God doesn’t care, you might
be killing time or filling time. But one thing is sure, you will account for it
one day.
That is why I am writing this important piece. We all have
time at our disposal, but it will not always be there. If you know the
importance of time, you will use it wisely and judiciously. Time is everything.
If you know the importance of Time, you will invest it wisely. No wonder David
said, “Teach us to number our days that we might apply our hearts to wisdom.”
Time is too precious to be wasted. Make wise decision today by
investing your rime and using it wisely.
